Job Description

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu (AKHK) is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. AKHK has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa – Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili, Nyamira, Kabarnet and Lodwar. The Hospital seeks to recruit a professional for the following position:

RADIO- SONOGRAPHER – HOMABAY

Reporting to the Radiology Manager, the successful candidate will ensure provision of effective, efficient, and quality imaging (Ultrasound and Xray) services in the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, undertake initial patient evaluation and provide diagnostic radiographs.
• Perform, provide findings on ultrasound and Doppler examinations by capturing images of diagnostic value.
• Ensure radiation safety measures and protection are observed to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety for patients, staff, and self.
• Ensure scheduled maintenance, and calibration of medical equipment are in place and followed.
• Ensure accurate documentation and care of patients’ records.

The requirements

• Higher National Diploma in Ultrasound from a recognized institution.
• Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences or bachelor’s degree in Radiography.
• Two (2) years’ working experience in a similar position.
• Registered and licensed by the Kenya Nuclear Radiological Authority.
• Member of professional body preferably SORK.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
