Job role

The Manufacturing and Fabrication Manager will oversee the end-to-end manufacturing and fabrication processes of gas cylinders, ensuring high-quality output, process efficiency, adherence to safety standards, and timely delivery. The role involves managing teams, coordinating production schedules, optimizing machine utilization, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives in line with company strategy and industry regulations.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Planning & Delivery

  • Translate S&OP outputs into production plans for own-brand and third-party cylinders, adjusting schedules for demand, capacity, and resource changes.
  • Partner with Demand Planning and Logistics to align output with dispatch schedules and monitor performance against plan.

People & Shift Leadership

  • Lead and hold accountable Production Supervisors and team leaders, overseeing shift structures and manpower planning for welders, operators and machine assistants.
  • Build supervisors and staff capability through coaching and structured training; partner with HR on resourcing, discipline, and succession planning.

Quality, Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure fabrication and welding meet KS and ISO standards; maintain ISO quality, health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Partner with Quality Control on non-conformity investigations and corrective actions.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain continual improvement practices, using production data and root cause analysis to reduce defects and downtime.
  • Partner with Maintenance on preventive maintenance planning to minimize unplanned downtime.

Resources, Cost & Inventory Management

  • Manage departmental budget, costs, and productivity targets.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels with Procurement and Logistics, escalating material or resourcing risks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Maintenance, Demand Planning, Logistics, Business Development, Finance, Procurement, Quality, Safety, and HR to keep production plans aligned with business priorities.
  • Provide manufacturing input into commercial/new-business discussions led by Business Development.
  • Performa other duties and assignments as will be assigned from time to time by the management.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Machine uptime.
  • Product defects.
  • Compliance with HSE and quality audits.
  • Production efficiency (output).
  • On-time-In-Full delivery rate (OTIFEF) of over 98% to internal and external customers.
  • Manufacturing & fabrication budget management.
  • Staff Productivity and engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing setup, metal fabrication or pressure vessel production experience will be an added advantage.
  • Proven track record leading large manufacturing teams (200+ headcount), with strong leadership capability.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD for production design.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, with ability to implement IMS and SOPs across processes and work instructions.
  • Proficiency in developing technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing ERP systems (eg SAP)
