Company Description

The Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) is a Kenyan conservation organization established in 2013 to coordinate, strengthen, and promote community conservancies across the Greater Maasai Mara Ecosystem. The association serves as the umbrella body for 24 wildlife conservancies, representing more than 15,000 landowners and coordinating conservation efforts across approximately 450,000 acres of community-owned conservation land. MMWCA works closely with Maasai communities, tourism partners, government agencies, conservation organizations, and development partners to ensure that wildlife conservation delivers sustainable social and economic benefits to local communities. Its programmes focus on community conservancy governance, biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, sustainable tourism, wildlife corridor protection, ecosystem restoration, land management, community livelihoods, youth empowerment, policy advocacy, and conservation financing. Through its conservancy model, landowners receive annual lease payments while protecting critical wildlife habitats that support one of Africa’s most important ecosystems. Maasai Mara Conservancies
