The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) is an independent State office established under the Political Parties Act, 2011 to register and regulate political parties and administer the Political Parties Fund in Kenya. The Office plays a critical role in strengthening Kenya’s multi-party democracy by ensuring political parties comply with the Constitution and relevant laws while promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance. Its vision is “A model regulator of political parties for a credible democratic multiparty system.” ORPP
The ORPP is mandated to register political parties, regulate political party operations, maintain the official register of political parties and party membership, oversee compliance with the Political Parties Act, resolve certain disputes, monitor coalition agreements, administer the Political Parties Fund, and promote civic education on political rights. To improve service delivery, the Office operates regional and county offices across Kenya in line with the principles of devolution. ORPP
