Science for Africa Foundation (SFA Foundation) is a pan-African, non-profit and public charity organization dedicated to supporting, strengthening, and promoting science, research, innovation, and evidence-based policymaking across Africa. Established in 2021, the Foundation works with African scientists, governments, universities, research institutions, development partners, and global organizations to generate scientific knowledge that addresses Africa’s most pressing health, economic, and developmental challenges. Its vision is to strengthen African science for a better future in a global world, while its mission is to promote science, innovation, evidence, and policy for improved health and economic prosperity across the continent.
The Foundation manages and supports flagship initiatives in health research, genomics, clinical trials, artificial intelligence and data science, science communication, pandemic preparedness, research capacity strengthening, grant making, policy engagement, and open research. Through strategic funding, partnerships, and advocacy, SFA Foundation strengthens Africa’s research ecosystem by enabling interdisciplinary collaboration, supporting scientific excellence, mobilizing research funding, and translating scientific discoveries into practical solutions that improve lives across Africa.
