Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.

Key Accountabilities

 Fraud Risk Management

  • Conduct fraud risk assessments across products, channels, processes, and systems.
  • Identify fraud vulnerabilities and recommend mitigating controls.
  • Monitor fraud trends, losses, emerging threats, and key risk indicators (KRIs).
  • Ensure fraud risk events are reported, assessed, and managed in line with policy.

Risk and Control Oversight

  •  Review and challenge the effectiveness of fraud controls across the business.
  • Track remediation of fraud-related findings, risks, and audit issues to closure.
  • Monitor and review fraud detection rules, parameters, and control performance.
  • Support projects and change initiatives through fraud risk reviews and approvals.

Governance, Reporting and MI

  • Prepare and submit fraud risk dashboards, management information (MI), and governance reports.
  • Provide insights into fraud trends, control gaps, and risk exposures to management.
  • Support reporting to risk committees, regulators, and other governance forums.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable fraud risk data and metrics.

Fraud Strategy and Prevention

  • Support the development and execution of the Fraud Risk Management Strategy.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at reducing fraud losses and strengthening controls.
  • Coordinate fraud awareness programmes for employees and customers.
  • Monitor emerging fraud typologies and industry developments to enhance fraud prevention.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with Business, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Risk teams to manage fraud risks.
  • Provide fraud risk advisory support and subject matter expertise.
  • Facilitate fraud, governance, forums and stakeholder engagements.
  • Support regulatory reviews, audits, and assurance activities.

Preferred Qualification

  •  Bachelor’s Degree, CFE and at least 5 years of experience in Fraud/Risk role in a financial institution

Preferred Experience

  •  Investigation, Analytics, and project management.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Analytics, Communication, stakeholder management, Risk and compliance and knowledge of applicable systems exposure
