Operations Officer at Express Shipping & Logistics (EA) Limited (ESL)

Job Description

We have an excellent and exciting opportunity for Operations Officer – Forwarding. We seek to give the opportunity to a candidate who ideally holds professional qualification in clearing & forwarding. The position is based in Mombasa.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Customs Clearance & Other Formalities:

• Lodging of bond vouchers and making follow-ups.
• Processing documentation i.e. permits required by regulatory bodies for processing.
• Physical verification and release of shipments with all the authorities.
• Coordinating with appointed transporters on safe loading of shipments.
• Follow up on customs entries perfection/ settlement.

Shipping Operations:

• Following up with vessels ETAs and ETDs.
• Picking up shipping line invoices and making sure payments are made.
• Processing delivery orders with shipping lines.
• Making applications and Reconciling shipping line deposits.

KPA / Container Freight Station Role:

• Custom clearance of goods (verification & loading).
• Lodging files for imports and exports.
• Custom clearance of goods (verification & loading).
• Making follow ups of cargo for onward forwarding.
• Making sure pre alerts for all forwarding shipments are sent before the cargo reaches the consignee.
• After airlifting, endorsement of the entries for bond cancellation is done.
• Following up with airlines/ shipping lines in requesting for manifests for entry registration.
• Booking, loading and exiting trucks in and out of ports/CFSs.
• Processing, tallying gate passes and Logistics IDs for bulk shipments at port.

Operations & Reporting:

• Participate in meetings where need be.
• Generate weekly, monthly reports as required by the management.

PERFOMANCE INDICATORS:

• Ensuring received documents comply with the requirements for clearance of the goods.
• Ensuring shipments are cleared within the allowed timeframes as per KPI.
• Regular updates on clearance status to the Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager.
• Execute high levels of integrity while performing daily activities.
• Always ensuring self and cargo safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• EACFFPC or Diploma in C&F or maritime studies.
• Customs declaration.
• Conversant with all customs procedures.
• 2 years progressive experience in C&F work.
