Job Description
The Associate Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of the Bank’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and operating systems. The role provides Level 1 technical support, contributing to the availability, performance, security, and reliability of systems that underpin the bank’s business operations. Working under the guidance of senior team members, the Associate Systems Administrator plays an active role in day-to-day infrastructure operations, incident resolution, and adherence to ICT operational standards. The overall objective of this role is to support high availability of the ICT infrastructure through timely problem resolution, proactive system monitoring, and disciplined execution of operational routines.Roles & Responsibilities
- Support the configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of servers, network infrastructure, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Perform daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability and recovery of hardware, server resources, key processes, and scheduled jobs such as backups, reviewing system and application logs accordingly, to ensure incidents and problems are addressed in line with defined policies, procedures, and SLA commitments.
- Deploy operating system patches, upgrades, and administrative tools on a scheduled basis, and configure new services as required to maintain effective service delivery to end users.
- Assist in monitoring capacity and storage utilization, escalating concerns to senior team members as appropriate.
- Perform regular backup operations and support the implementation of data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Configure, enforce, and maintain logical and physical access controls in line with organizational information security policies. Assist in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities across infrastructure systems, escalating risks to senior staff as required.
- Assist resolve assigned support tickets by providing technical support to end users, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues promptly and delivering thorough, root-cause solutions to minimize repeat incidents.
- Collaborate with users and team members to implement updates, upgrades, and patches in a controlled and timely manner.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support prepare user requirements specifications for hardware and software infrastructure projects, and application deployments, under the direction of senior staff, in line with Bank guidelines.
- Contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives and technology refresh activities as directed.
- Demonstrate behaviors aligned to the Bank’s values and support a performance and customer-service-oriented ICT culture.
- Remain flexible to periodic after-hours, weekend, or on-call work as required to support critical operations.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology/Systems, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure support, with exposure to server administration, networking and enterprise operating environments.
- Certifications including Microsoft: AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals) or MD-102 (Endpoint Administrator), CompTIA Linux+ or equivalent entry-level Linux certification, CCNA or CompTIA Network+, AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Solutions Architect Associate
- CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Server+ provide an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux/Unix operating environments, including basic administration and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with server virtualization platforms and container technologies.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCS) including foundational compute, storage, and networking services.
- Working experience with Microsoft 365 administration and support, including core services such as Exchange Online and Teams.
- Familiarity with enterprise-grade storage systems and backup solutions, with the ability to perform and verify backup jobs.
- Basic understanding of data protection strategies, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
- Basic working knowledge of database systems including SQL Server, MySQL, and/or Oracle sufficient for infrastructure monitoring and support tasks.
- Ability to support application deployments from an infrastructure perspective under the guidance of senior team members.
- Awareness of information security best practices, access control principles, and organizational security policies.
- Familiarity with infrastructure and performance monitoring tools.
