HealthX Africa is an early-stage healthtech startup building modern telemedicine and digital pharmacy experiences for Africa. The company is seeking a UI/UX Developer (Flutter) who is passionate about building beautiful, fast, and reliable digital experiences that make healthcare more accessible.

You will join a small, agile, and collaborative team working alongside backend engineers, designers, and product leads to deliver world-class patient and clinician applications across mobile and web.

This role is ideal for a curious, detail-oriented builder who enjoys crafting high-quality interfaces and is eager to grow while working on meaningful healthcare challenges.

Role:

UI/UX Developer (Flutter)

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience building apps with Flutter (mobile and/or web production apps required).
  • Strong understanding of UI development, widget composition, animations, and responsive layouts.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs and working with JSON, authentication flows, and backend services.
  • Familiarity with common state management patterns (BLoC preferred, but open to others).
  • Ability to write clean, structured, and maintainable code, with willingness to learn quickly.
  • Comfortable using AI tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to speed up development and learning.
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience with real-world projects.

Good to Have Skills

  • Basic understanding of Git, CI/CD workflows, and cloud deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain core patient and clinician-facing applications using Flutter for Web and Mobile.
  • Implement intuitive, high-performance UI/UX with a focus on accessibility and minimal friction.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs for authentication, telemedicine, pharmacy, payments, and logistics.
  • Work closely with designers to translate Figma/UX wireframes into production-ready Flutter components.
  • Develop multilingual interfaces (English, Swahili, and more in the future).
  • Build reusable components, state management solutions, and scalable architectures (BLoC, Riverpod, Provider).
  • Implement real-time features such as chat, consultations, notifications, and delivery tracking.
  • Ensure code quality through testing, linting, documentation, and structured reviews.
  • Optimize performance across devices, browsers, and varying network conditions common in African markets.
  • Contribute to user research, product improvements, and enhancements to the end-to-end telehealth experience.
