Clinical Officer
Outspan Hospital is seeking a qualified, compassionate, and highly motivated Clinical Officer to join our new Staff & Student Dispensary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering quality, patient-centered outpatient healthcare services to staffs, students, and the surrounding community.
Position Summary
The Clinical Officer will be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical care, conducting patient assessments, diagnosing and treating common medical conditions, prescribing medications, and promoting preventive healthcare within the dispensary setting. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient consultations, examinations, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Prescribe and administer appropriate medications and therapies.
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses within the scope of practice.
- Provide health education and preventive care services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
- Coordinate referrals for specialized care when necessary.
- Participate in health promotion and wellness programs for staff and students.
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards, infection prevention protocols, and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare
professionals. - Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the dispensary.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized University.
- Registered and licensed by the Clinical Officers Council with a valid practicing license.
- Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in an outpatient or dispensary setting is an
added advantage. - Strong diagnostic and patient management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with electronic medical records will be an added
advantage. - Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and patient confidentiality.
