Project Extension Officer – Olderkesi Region
Location: Olderkesi, Maasai Mara, Kenya

About The Role
The Maa Trust is seeking a dedicated Project Extension Officer to serve as its lead representative and focal point in the Olderkesi Region. The successful candidate will coordinate, implement, monitor, and report on integrated community development programmes while strengthening partnerships and promoting sustainable community-led development.
The role supports interventions in Education, Child Protection, Gender and Safeguarding, Health, WASH, Infrastructure Development, Livelihoods, and Community Leadership. The officer will ensure programmes are delivered effectively, meet donor and organizational requirements, and contribute to improved wellbeing and resilience within communities in the region.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Programme Planning, Coordination & Implementation
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programme activities in line with approved work plans, budgets, donor requirements, and organizational priorities.
- Develop and manage annual, quarterly, and monthly implementation plans to ensure timely delivery of programme targets.
- Identify emerging community needs and opportunities and provide recommendations to inform programme design and resource mobilization.
- Coordinate implementation of interventions in Education, Child Protection and Safeguarding, Health, WASH, Infrastructure Development, Livelihoods, and Community Leadership.
- Oversee infrastructure projects including school facilities, water systems, health facilities, and community assets to ensure quality, compliance, and timely completion.
2. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Reporting
- Monitor programme progress against agreed targets and indicators and provide timely updates to management.
- Collect, verify, and submit high-quality programme data and documentation in accordance with organizational monitoring and reporting requirements.
- Support baseline assessments, surveys, evaluations, and learning initiatives.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and donor reports highlighting achievements, challenges, lessons learned, risks, and recommendations.
- Document success stories, case studies, best practices, and community impact stories.
- Track programme risks, implementation challenges, and emerging issues and propose mitigation measures.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
- Serve as The Maa Trust’s primary representative and focal point within the Olderkesi region.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with community leaders, conservancy management, government departments, schools, health facilities, community groups, development partners, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings and community engagement forums to strengthen collaboration and community ownership.
- Support donor, partner, board, and visitor field visits and provide accurate information regarding programme activities and impact.
- Represent The Maa Trust in relevant forums, meetings, and coordination platforms as delegated by management.
4. Leadership & Team Support
- Promote collaboration and effective communication between programme teams, technical departments, and support functions.
- Mentor community volunteers, champions, facilitators, and local committees to strengthen local leadership and programme sustainability.
- Provide strategic feedback to management on community dynamics, stakeholder relationships, programme opportunities, and operational challenges.
- Support conflict resolution efforts and facilitate constructive engagement around sensitive community issues.
5. Safeguarding, Compliance & Risk Management
- Uphold and actively promote The Maa Trust’s safeguarding, child protection, PSEA, code of conduct, and ethical standards at all times.
- Ensure programme activities are implemented in a manner that protects children, vulnerable adults, staff, volunteers, and partners.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, legal regulations, and industry best practices.
- Report safeguarding concerns, incidents, or breaches promptly and follow established reporting and response protocols.
- Ensure proper use, accountability, and security of programme resources and assets.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Education, Public Health, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
- Experience in Child Protection, Education, WASH, Gender, Health, Livelihoods, or Community Development programmes.
- Experience in project monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.

- Fluency in English, Kiswahili, and Maa.
